have you heard this woman?

Because if you haven't, well, you need to.

and this one you may recognize. it's in the ads to "He's Just Not That Into You".

Okay, do you love her yet? I'm obsessed...thanks to Lindsey. Oh yeah, and this woman is gorgeous. And one last thing, she lives in Nashville. I'm betting money she plays a lot of shows there. I'm thinking you need to see her live.

I'll See You're Tegan and Sara...

And raise you Robyn

I've been obsessed with this song for a while now. I think you'll enjoy it since it's that little techno groove.

Here's another one off her new album...

But you'll probably best remember her for this:

oh Radiohead

So I missed the Radiohead show the other night because as Tori Amos would say, "I'm such a ding-a-ling". I passed on actually buying tickets and now I'm bummed. Anyway, I found the set list. I've been listening to Radiohead for days now punishing myself for being so lame. What's worse is that I've basically screwed myself again. Indigo Girls tickets went on sale this morning at 9am for their Sept. Chastain show. Guess who forgot? That would be me. It's probably sold out now. I'm a moron.

Oh well....one day I'll learn. I hope.

Wait...

Didn't you mention this girl to me ages ago? I swear you did. Well, kudos to you if that's the case. I really like this song.

And yeah!I get to see you tomorrow!!! Can't wait!

These Five Words I Say To You

New

Kids

On

The

Block

So, I'm pretty sure this is everywhere now, but sadly, it's the 20th anniversary of Hangin' Tough and because of that, these 5 fellas are going to be making an appearance on the Today Show this Friday. Yes, set your TIVOs kids.
I don't know if I'm more frightened that these guys are doing a little reunion special or that it's been 20 years since I was singing You've Got the Right Stuff around my 12 year old girlie poster filled bedroom. When the hell did I get so old? I mean really? And let's not forget that just a few years ago, KW and I saw Joey in our office building. The guy that everyone had a crush on tried to hit on KW. Clearly, he did not know the KDub because she shot him down without even batting an eye. It was so heartwarming. But I digress...I would like to point out that Jonathan is actually still kinda hot. And Danny, still appears slightly less evolved.

sad

It's always sad when the blog goes dark for such long periods of time. Hopefully this will help brighten things up.

Okay, so for some reason, Yahoo isn't as dynamic of a site when it comes to embedding videos, so unfortunately, to see what I want you to see, you have to click on this link. Sorry for the inconvenience. boo.

Blast from the past

So, I've become obsessed with this song....again. I know you remember it. I think you even had the cd. Well, it's back in full rotation. Oh and I downloaded a more recent song from this guy and have been listening to it for about 3 days straight.

Enjoy.

sin titulo

I've definitely used that title before...but I felt it worthy to be resurrected. Anyway, I was just browsing through some really old posts and realized that we've gotten so far away from the original intention of this blog. Now I just post about stupid tv shows. How sad is that??

Meanwhile, Mary Ellen, you're off saving the world.

I checked out the new blog by the way...very nice. Although the commenting to the "Washingtonians" is a bit distracting. : )

Alright, so you won't be back for a while and I've been a terrible friend and haven't called in you in forever. Don't hate me. I'm just caught up in my own junk right now. I filled you in a little on the work situation. The update is that it's not getting any better. Nothing like working harder for less money. Oddly enough I can still be happy at that place. I guess it really all does come down to the people you work with. You should know...wink wink.

Oh I haven't told you...my Brandi Carlile dreams have been shattered!!!! I got to work right
after my long holiday break only to discover that I have a "client" dinner to attend that same night!!! And I can't get out of it. Am I ever going to see Brandi?? I guess it's just not meant to be!
I'm so angry too!!! I had great tickets...cheap tickets... I was going to stay with Leslie and Mimi and have a great time in Athens, but once again the job dictates my life. What is wrong with this picture? And I don't mean the one on the right?

Alright, will you keep me posted on your Washington adventure?? Go visit everything...Air and space museum...the Smithsonian, everything!!! And take loads and loads of pictures..

I miss you!

The Dykeenies

I found this new band one evening while watching IMF (International Music Feed) a really great music video channel. Anyway, forget that the front guy looks like a cheap knock off of Liam Gallagher, these guys are good. Their music is solid and I think I'm a fan. Take a look and a listen...check them out and enjoy!

sweet flashback...

I had one of my usual random train of thought moments today on the long ride from Virginia to Georgia. It started with "Sweet Surrender" on XM. That lead me to think that I haven't seen a Sarah video in years. Which made me realize how much I missed Sarah...and her sweet videos...which made me think of the first time I saw the video for Possession...and my complete obsession with it. (It really was disturbing...the staying up all night just to see it on vh-1. I mean really, I was young, but sheesh..) Anyway, to make a long story longer, I wondered if I could find it on youtube. Much to my excitement, I did. I found a couple actually. Which leads me to this...

then this..

and then this one..oh boy...

and lastly...

this last one is a little different from the original video, but because this video is truly only posted by sonybmg, they aren't up for people embedding their videos.

hope you enjoyed this evening of sarah mclachlan.

one of my new favorites

these days is kt tunstall. i never could get behind that annoying "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" song. Don't know if it was the innumerable "woo-hoos", or if it was because that chick from American Idol butchered it so many times, but I never was a fan of hers. I found "Suddenly I See" to be moderately entertaining, but that was pretty much it. That was until I saw her on a British talk show (Graham Norton) the other night. She performed this song....

I'm now in love.
ps. how cute is that picture?

More matt....

It took a few days, but clips from the show at the Loft have finally made it on line.
This one's a long one, but Mary Ellen, it's yoiur favorite Chicago story. So enjoy:

Okay, so I just found this one too...and well, if you remember, the "kill the bitch" guy was our football score update buddy. Oh boy...

All Things Matt.

In my typical post concert state, I'm in a full on Matt Nathanson state of mind. I just came across a show he did for NPR over this summer. You can hear it here. Just click "listen" and you're there.

Oh sweet little Matt. What a two face. I still love him.

Of course. Click on this link and see what I came across when I was googling images of Matt. If you don't get it, email me and I'll explain.
Ps. If I did have a myspace page, this would be the song.

Another new artist

I think this girl is the equivalent of Brandi Carlile, but the Australian version.

Check her out. She's kinda cool. ; )

I'm trying to see if I can link up things from iTunes.

Testing.

..misty water colored memories...

so i sent you the link to orphan studios, but i guess i didn't pay close enough attention to all of the pictures. when i read your email, you mentioned brandi, ig, and michelle. so of course i had to go back to the site...and i just saw this picture. it's kind of sweet and sad and now i feel old. i remember the first time i saw these two in a show...ahhh...i was so young. what good times. i still love her voice. you know....the song "losing heart" by brandi, reminds me of michelle malone. that could have been the perfect song for her. hey, maybe mm and bc will collaborate. that would be a musical match made in heaven.

i hope you had a blast at the show tonight. i know i said i hated you, but you know i was just being a very jealous person. although you did flake on sending me those cds. so to make it up to me, you have to send me the first bc cd. deal? good.

post soon!

Oh my goodness

So MEP, I took your Brandi Carlile words to heart and decided to check her out...this is what I found:

Oh my god her voice on this song seriously gives me chills. If the rest of her stuff sounds like this, then count me in. PS she reminds me of several different singers all rolled into one: kd lang, patsy cline, and johnette napolitano of concrete blonde. (Can't you hear this girl singing "Joey"?) So you most definitely have to make me a copy of her cd.

Okay, while we're talking about great musicians, you've got to check out this song. I'm in love. Do you remember that weird video I posted a while back where that odd girl kept singing while awkward things were going on with her face? Well, this is the same girl, Sia. I actually just bought her cd "Colour The Small One". Did I say that I am in love?

And lastly, Colbie Caillat. Her video on youtube has been disabled from embedding, but here's a link to the page..

Enjoy.

Matt Nathanson - not just an obsession.

Since you're new to the musical love of my life, Matt Nathanson, I thought I would take this time to introduce you. I'm not sure of how to do that really, so I thought I would do it by way of his website. Please check him out. You won't be disappointed. Anyway, in my quest to find out more for you, I came across this little web entry from MN. I thought you of all people would find this incredibly fantastic:

over memorial day weekend, i was involved in an amazing
3 day retreat in new orleans with a handful of incredible artists,
including emily and amy (indigo girls). it was a workshop on
activism and the arts and it culminated in a concert to benefit
Sweet Home New Orleans. in the taxi on the way to the show,
i finally spilled the beans to them both about how influential
they had been to me and they asked if i wanted to "sing michael's
(stipe... of REM) part on 'kid fears?'"...
i know you can't tell from the video, but i was having an out of body
experience. seriously. to be able to harmonize with my heroes on a song
i sang at every open mic i ever played is surreal. i was stunned.
and euphoric. i'm actually still getting over the shock.

I know, right??? Okay, I tried to check out the video, but myspace stinks right now, so I'll try to hook it up later. In the meantime, check out this little acoustic performance of the song "Gone" off the new album./ps. i think this one my be my favorite. i'm melting already.

umbrella

I hate to admit it, but I really do like this song. I couldn't tell you one other song my Rihanna. Truth be told, I really don't care what her other songs are. I just really enjoyed this one. That is, until Yahoo had a link on their home page to this...and I realized how much moore I like this: (did you catch the pun??)
