southland in the springtime...

Maybe we'll make Texas by the morning
Light the bayou with our tail lights in the night
800 miles to el paso from the state line
And we never have the money for the flight
I'm in the back seat sleepy from the travel
Played our hearts out all night long in New Orleans
I'm dirty from the diesel fumes, drinking coffee black
When the first breath of Texas comes in clean
And there's something 'bout the Southland in the springtime
Where the waters flow with confidence and reason
Though I miss her when I'm gone it won't ever be too long
Till I'm home again to spend my favorite season
When God made me born a yankee he was teasin'
There's no place like home and none more pleasin'
Than the Southland in the springtime
In Georgia nights are softer than a whisper
Beneath a quilt somebody's mother made by hand
With the farmland like a tapestry passed down through generations
And the peach trees stitched across the land
There'll be cider up near Helen off the roadside
And boiled peanuts in a bag to warm your fingers
And the smoke from the chimneys meets its maker in the sky
With a song that winter wrote whose melody lingers.

....after seeing your post with all the gorgeous flowers, I couldn't get this song out of my head....and as much as it fills me with visions of dogwoods, azaleas, tulips, and snowball hydrangeas, i quickly realized that this song really makes absolutely no mention whatsoever of just how insanely beautiful the south can be this time of year. i suddenly feel like i've been bamboozled by this song...what a freakin' letdown.
oh...and the photo on the right is from my favorite website ever - thepioneeerwoman.com
hope all is well.

Indigo Girls..

After last night's show, I'm not sure if I'm going to be rushing back to see The Girls again anytime soon. I feel bad even saying that because they sounded phenomenal, I just wasn't feeling it last night. At the 5th song, I looked at my friend Bob and said, "well, they're 0 for 5"...
Yeap, that bad. They played a lot of stuff of "All That We Let In" and "Despite Our Differences" which might be my two least favorite albums from them. They managed to squeeze in "Mystery" and "The Wood Song", but other than that, I was pretty bummed.

Missy Higgins on the other hand sounded a-mazing. No really. I think I'm in love. ; )

But since you weren't able to attend, I took a few pictures for you:
....and this was our view. any guess who that is up on the stage? i'm still not sure. : )

dreams do come true

especially for my dear lauren-
unbelievable?
yes, but true.

yesterday, lauren had the privilege/luck/whatever you wanna call it of
picking up two very, very special people from LAX. special to you, me,
but most importantly to lauren.
if you have a guess, now would be the time...go on...who do you think it is?

if you guessed amy and emily, not only are you right, you're
down right freaky.

basically a friend she used to work with asked her to work on a video for the last song on their new album. so lauren was incredibly fortunate in that she got to pick them up at the airport and chat with them on the 30 min car ride back to the roosevelt hotel in hollywoood where they shot the video. according to our friend, she stayed on set all day- had a blast and now they are all "new best friends".

I cannot even imagine what lauren must have been like yesterday. oh my god, the screaming, the hysterical screaming...little girl screaming!!! what i would have paid to have seen the look on her face as those two women got into her car. and lauren...i'm sure she had a million and one things to say to them...about them...although i'm sure she left out the part about her being in love with amy. now that would have been priceless!
