Isn't it ironic...

I hardly ever check this blog anymore. But last Friday night I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to watch a clip of my trip with Rob in Greece. What an awesome trip -- even though I was in the midst of a personal identity crisis -- it really helped me to clear my head and figure out what to do with this new life I had decided to live. Here's one clip where we traveled to Athens. The train part was special, I remember having this moment of peace and contentment knowing everything was going to be ok. Life, and the world as I saw it from that train window rolling past the mountains, was beautiful again. As a metaphor for life I realized that in order to live with new purpose and love, I needed my old life to breakdown. I had to disassemble years of isolation and numbness before I could rebuild a better, more true, me. Jack Johnson just put it to music.

Train to Athens

And isn't it ironic, that the first time in months that I check this blog, you had posted the very same day. We are indeed kindred spirits.

My new home

I haven't visited this page in a while.  Guess it's because I'm too busy spending all of my blogging hours over at my new site...you are what you eat...or reheat.  It's been a fun run at 377 south pope street....

crazy

34/365 atlanta traffic

that i haven't been to this site in ages.  i can't seem to part with it entirely, but there's no use for it anymore.  my other blog is doing fairly well. i obsess over comments and page views or lack there of on an hourly basis.  i'm not so sure that's normal.  it's supposed to be a hobby.  guess that's why it's such a shame that i've put pressure on myself to turn it into something it's not.

i will say though, the one thing good to come out of it is that i've really taken a liking to photography.  i'm not saying i'm great at it, but i'm definitely gaining experience.  i started a 365 day photo project 42 days ago.
i cannot believe i've made it 42 days.  only have 323 days to go.

so if you've stopped by this little blog, or mary ellen, if you're here for a visit, feel free to check out my photos.

hi mary ellen. it's me katie.

It's been so long since I've blogged over here at blogger, that I don't even recognize this place anymore.  It's suddenly so advanced, so pretty.  Sadly, it's still no wordpress, but it will do.

I just had to share that I started a new blog today. Technically that makes the total number of blogs I have- 4.  That's right.  I have 4 blogs.
And only one that's actually active.
This one has pretty much died on the vine.  And that makes me sad.  It does.  It started out as such a fun little sharing tool.  And now it's a ghost town.  Maybe one day it will see the true light of day that it so deserves.  Until then, I'll post random thoughts.  Although, I'm not entirely sure they go noticed.

Until then, feel free to visit my latest blog... http://www.daytodayphotos.wordpress.com/ to follow me as I embark on 365 days worth of new photos all surrounding one theme - "home".
I posted my first photo today.
1/365 coffee=home
And the title of that  blog may look familiar.
That's because I named my 2nd blog http://www.daytodayphotos.blogspot.com/
I thought it would be best to keep everything simplified.

Until next time sweet friend...

the more you know...

I decided on a whim, after ending up on someone's blogger blog, that I would click "next blog" which is located on the top left of this screen.
This went on for about 10 minutes. In all that time, and in all those blogs, only 2 were not about babies...or children...or birthing.

No offense, but seriously, what the hell????
Is that why blogs were created?
And like I said, no offense to people who want to share their family stories, but holy hell, I had no idea there were so many blogs dedicated to babies.

And although I don't have a problem with it, there is one thing I do take issue with...and again, if you're one of these people (not that anyone reads this blog) then I apologize in advance...I take issue with people who feel the need to post their sonograms on line.

We get it. You're with child. You think it's beautiful.
To those of us who don't know you...it's not.
It's freaky.
And it's disturbing.
And should be probably only be viewed by your immediate family and not random strangers on-line.

I'm just sayin'.

Thank you for reading this public service announcement.
Please return to your regularly scheduled blog.

i must

post here. i feel so much freer (is that even how you spell it?) posting here than i do over at you are what you eat...i've put entirely too much pressure on myself and i feel like being well, free.

so here i am being just that.
i know no one is actually reading this, but that's okay. mary ellen, when was the last time you stopped by? hello? is this thing on?

see here, i don't have to worry about the "stats". i mean who the hell cares anyway? isn't blogging supposed to be fun? then again, i would love to make oodles and oodles of money at blogging. by the way, the cash equivalent to oodles and oodles is millions in case you were wondering. but, that's probably the wrong reason to blog isn't it? yeah, don't answer that. i already know the answer. so i guess when i'm in a bloggin' rut, i'll come back to my safe place and blog away...saying absolutely nothing at all. thus the reason i love 377southpopestreet. oh athens...what? sorry, sidetracked.

never mind.
going to have a nice glass of wine.
god knows after this week i need it.
thank you grapes for turning into the nectar of the gods.

have you heard this woman?

Because if you haven't, well, you need to.

and this one you may recognize. it's in the ads to "He's Just Not That Into You".

Okay, do you love her yet? I'm obsessed...thanks to Lindsey. Oh yeah, and this woman is gorgeous. And one last thing, she lives in Nashville. I'm betting money she plays a lot of shows there. I'm thinking you need to see her live.

Ok.. how I found this is too random and strange to explain. Basically I was googling a phrase and this blog popped up. So I clicked on it only to find that this guy is a blog soul mate of ours. Granted he lives in the Minnesota with his partner. But he definitely shares our sense of humor. And I love his new lake house! I know it seems I am a blog stalker, but this is the kind of website that I think I'll check ever now and then to see how Michael from Minnesota is doing. Defiinitley check out the link to the SNL commercial for "Homocil" -- hilarious. And you'll love his pup pics. ;)

southland in the springtime...

Maybe we'll make Texas by the morning
Light the bayou with our tail lights in the night
800 miles to el paso from the state line
And we never have the money for the flight
I'm in the back seat sleepy from the travel
Played our hearts out all night long in New Orleans
I'm dirty from the diesel fumes, drinking coffee black
When the first breath of Texas comes in clean
And there's something 'bout the Southland in the springtime
Where the waters flow with confidence and reason
Though I miss her when I'm gone it won't ever be too long
Till I'm home again to spend my favorite season
When God made me born a yankee he was teasin'
There's no place like home and none more pleasin'
Than the Southland in the springtime
In Georgia nights are softer than a whisper
Beneath a quilt somebody's mother made by hand
With the farmland like a tapestry passed down through generations
And the peach trees stitched across the land
There'll be cider up near Helen off the roadside
And boiled peanuts in a bag to warm your fingers
And the smoke from the chimneys meets its maker in the sky
With a song that winter wrote whose melody lingers.

....after seeing your post with all the gorgeous flowers, I couldn't get this song out of my head....and as much as it fills me with visions of dogwoods, azaleas, tulips, and snowball hydrangeas, i quickly realized that this song really makes absolutely no mention whatsoever of just how insanely beautiful the south can be this time of year. i suddenly feel like i've been bamboozled by this song...what a freakin' letdown.
oh...and the photo on the right is from my favorite website ever - thepioneeerwoman.com
hope all is well.

Danger Woman

The Machine is Us/ing Us

This video is a deep thinker. My grad school days taught me to think this way -- to ask questions like "How do we know what we know?" and "What is our place in the world?" It's like a damn matrix. This guy Michael Wesch is brilliant, an anthropology professor who has been dubbed the "explainer."

my next bold move

I'm starting up another blog. Lord knows why. It's not like I don't spend enough time on line now I'm adding another site to that list!

This one's gonna be different. It's going to be about food. Yeap, nothing but food. Cooking it namely.

Check it out:

And let me know what you think.

Straight out of the camera

I finally took my actual film in to Wolf Camera to be transferred over to a disc. These pictures have been waiting to be developed ever since the big Snow Storm of '09 took place. Yeap a whole two weeks. and it's been killing me! Usually I'm not too terribly impressed by the quality of photos I've taken, but this time, I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. Lately, I've been snapping away on our new digital camera. This would be it. Or something similar to it:

But for the big snow day, I opted to go old school and use my little old slr. Here's what came of it:

Justice. How pensive does he look? Bet he's wondering how he can eat the snow.

Libby. She's probably thinking that she'd be more comfortable on the bed. Where it's warm.

Hold on just. a. minute. She's starting to get into this whole snow thing.
By the way, if you click on this picture you can see little Libby's teeth. My heart is melting...

The trees in our yard. Okay, our neighbor's yard.

And Justice again...anticipating the big snowflake bite!

That was a good day. The dogs had a blast and I took some fairly decent shots of the whole thing. Maybe it's time to start falling in love again with my favorite little SLR.
-k.

My sweets

I don't think I've posted any pictures of my munchkins in quite some time. So, here's just a friendly reminder of what the kids look like...

Sweet, right?

And here's how it went..

Well, I'm done with the little cake bites and this is how they turned out in a bit of a picture story...

And by the way, my little cupcake bites (and photos for that matter) don't remotely resemble the picture below. Oh well. Guess I better start working on my photography asap. Oh yeah, and the baking too.

Watch out....

In my attempt to become a domesticated lady, I'm attempting to make these right now...

Thanks to this incredible new site I discovered via Pioneer Woman, called Bakerella. You'll notice it's one my of latest site additions over in the right hand column. Obviously, I am not making these for me (although you know I'm DYING to try just one!).

I'm going to take pictures while I'm making them so you can see how well the attempt goes or just how miserably I fail. Either way, this should be a blast! I swear, I will be a baker yet! Finally, I can shove that in Sister's face! ha ha! Kidding, kidding! Okay, not really.

Hope you're having a nice, relaxing, and rainy Sunday.

k.

Did I happen to mention that I'm nuts?

I thought it would be a good idea if for this year's Lent I gave up desserts. Not chocolate, not pastries, not ice cream....DESSERT. Yes my friend, that encompasses it all. I'm not sure if you know just how taxing this has been on me physically and emotionally considering I live with a man who must have some form of sugar coursing through his veins at any given moment of the day. For instance, this is what we have lying around the house at this very moment:
To say I'm dying is an understatement....

So let me just say, that I am counting down the days until Easter when I can tear into treats like these:

Say a prayer.....
:)
