lights will guide you home...

Last night I spent an incredible night with those lovely British boys Guy, Jonny, Will, and Chris...

and what a night it was. I mean just look at that face...yeah, Chris' face...and Guy's...ahhhh..(2nd from the right)... the show was fantastic...and it actually looked a little like this...

and this...

and even though i didn't have remotely anything close to either of these views, i could see that -

michael stipe was the special guest. he's no elton john playing the piano on Trouble, but it was pretty impressive that Chris could play Nightswimming while Senor Stipe sang his song. But I digress...let's get back to dear sweet beautiful Chris...

ahhh, chris....

the best part was that I never saw you know who...

all in all it was an amazing night. the band was spot on - god i want to be british...chris was on top of his game...and they ran the gamut of their "entire catalog" playing everything from square one to in my place to talk to yellow...

so with that, i will say goodnight...and instead of dreaming of plum fairies or or sugar plums or whatever they are supposedly dancing in my head, i will be dreaming of chris martin singing to me and only to me (and not those 20,000 other screaming fans)....

now that's a trip

So I just got back from my run, it was not a good one. The breeze was great, the temperature was perfect, but Lady's running pattern was neither. I had been running only about 7 minutes when on the back side of the running path by the tennis courts Lady cut right in front of me, or rather right under me. I completely tripped, which was made worse because as she did that and my descent began she completely stopped which sent me flying even further. And of course I had been running just long enough to where I had pretty much peaked my speed. So yeah, I landed on the asphalt like I was sliding head first into home plate. Imagine a near sprint down the road that ends with a flying leap onto your stomach. And yes, I am drawing some serious blood. I caught myself with my hands and knees mostly which are bloody and bruised with some great somewhat deep scratches. I forgot to look and see if I left that part of my palm and knee cap on the track. I did have enough presence of mind to quickly look up and see if anyone was around. Luckily not even a car was driving by.. thank goodness. Minimal embarassment even though it was the damn dog's fault. So I hobbled back to my car, decided it was best to cut the run short. No need to have any more nominations for trip of the year, I've got it in the bag. Ass to asphalt.. now that's a trip.

just to show you

I guess I'll just have to post a pose of myself over the next few weeks so that you all won't be so surprised that I'm all dressed up. I do have a kick ass little suit that I plan to wear soon, but for now, I'll give you my sex in the city dress up from my high school reunion last year. In the picture are two of my homies... Coretta and Latisha. If you need a closer look at our profuse sweating (Coretta and I had just exited the dance floor) click on the picture. It was a fun night, especially since I was in charge and had all my drinks paid for by thankful classmates. Cheers.

what i learned....

while reading through my new magazine... i learned: "Cockfighting has historical significance. It has been around the U.S. since colonial times and even longer in other parts of the world. Popular president Abraham Lincoln was actually a cockfight referee and apparently was nicknamed "Honest Abe" for his honesty in the pit - not for his politics, as most believe. The gamecock also ran a close second to the bald eagle to be our national bird." - Advance magazine

mep - you might want to use this in your history lessons! :) you can borrow my pictures and the magazine if you like! and yes, i did find the recipe for the tequila marys!

Dr. Phil's Sage Advice

I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me and we
all could use a little more calmness in our lives. By following the
simple advice I heard on the Dr. Phil show, I have finally found inner
peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish
all the things you've started and never finished." So, I looked around
my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before
leaving this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of
White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Bristol Cream, a bottle of Kahlua,
a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the
rest of the cheesecake, some saltines and a box of chocolates. You have
no idea how freaking good I feel. Please pass this on to those you feel
might be in need of inner peace.

we all could use a laugh

It's the Onion. Not sure if you are familiar with it, but it's a joke.
There's nothing real about it...but sometimes it can be really funny.

Just for the knowing

For the most eerie- just down right disturbing- take on what has happened in New Orleans, read this National Geographic article PUBLISHED IN 2004 OVER A YEAR AGO. It will blow your mind. The date of the article is in the top right hand pull down menu, it was brought up from the magazine's online archive.

Update

Click the linked title to read a good sum up article on Katrina, it also has some good stats and echoes my sentiments about FEMA director Michael Brown.

thanks

Thanks Heather for providing the food/drink fuel tonight. It was good to see all of you again. The blue man and scarlett letter videos were a nice entertainment touch. And of course the gelato, even if I couldn't eat all of mine. I just got home so I need to give Lady some attention, she is presently trying to lick my elbow completely off my arm. See you all soon, thanks again. Ciao!

katrina

hey guys, click on the link for a direct connect to the red cross website. i've been watching The Today Show this morning...and the cut-ins from 11 Alive. so far this morning, 11 Alive's red cross drive has already raised $1.2 million! bank of america just made a $1,000,000 donation. i'm not one for calling in to things, so i think just donating to the red cross is a very easy alternative.

leigh ann, is your church doing anything in the way of volunteering in any way? if you are going to do something, let me know because i want to help.

someone on the internet compared downtown new orleans to a scene in Black Hawk Down. i just don't think it can get much worse.

eerie

So I've been reading for the past three days for school, and it hasn't been until tonight that I've been able to catch up on the worsening condition in New Orleans. On Saturday I decided to combine several of my services: phone, cable, internet. I called BellSouth and during some of the wait times I chit chatted with the lady from BellSouth. We talked about the weather, and at the time Katrina was near Miami. I commented that I hoped the storm would play out and not hit Florida hard likes so many recent hurricanes. She said, Betty I think was her name, "Well you never know, hurricanes have a mind of their own." I asked where she lived and she said, "New Orleans." Granted New Orleans and Mississippi are risk areas, but there have not been hit by a major hurricane in several decades. I ended the conversation by saying, "Well I hope the storm doesn't decide to go your way." I've wondered as this disaster has unfolded what Betty and her family did and where they are. I also wonder if she remembers our conversation, light hearted then, no doubt serious now. Eerie.
