my next bold move

I'm starting up another blog. Lord knows why. It's not like I don't spend enough time on line now I'm adding another site to that list!

This one's gonna be different. It's going to be about food. Yeap, nothing but food. Cooking it namely.

Check it out:

Straight out of the camera

I finally took my actual film in to Wolf Camera to be transferred over to a disc. These pictures have been waiting to be developed ever since the big Snow Storm of '09 took place. Yeap a whole two weeks. and it's been killing me! Usually I'm not too terribly impressed by the quality of photos I've taken, but this time, I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. Lately, I've been snapping away on our new digital camera. This would be it. Or something similar to it:

But for the big snow day, I opted to go old school and use my little old slr. Here's what came of it:

Justice. How pensive does he look? Bet he's wondering how he can eat the snow.

Libby. She's probably thinking that she'd be more comfortable on the bed. Where it's warm.

Hold on just. a. minute. She's starting to get into this whole snow thing.
By the way, if you click on this picture you can see little Libby's teeth. My heart is melting...

The trees in our yard. Okay, our neighbor's yard.

And Justice again...anticipating the big snowflake bite!

That was a good day. The dogs had a blast and I took some fairly decent shots of the whole thing. Maybe it's time to start falling in love again with my favorite little SLR.
-k.

My sweets

I don't think I've posted any pictures of my munchkins in quite some time. So, here's just a friendly reminder of what the kids look like...

Sweet, right?

And here's how it went..

Well, I'm done with the little cake bites and this is how they turned out in a bit of a picture story...

And by the way, my little cupcake bites (and photos for that matter) don't remotely resemble the picture below. Oh well. Guess I better start working on my photography asap. Oh yeah, and the baking too.

Watch out....

In my attempt to become a domesticated lady, I'm attempting to make these right now...

Thanks to this incredible new site I discovered via Pioneer Woman, called Bakerella. You'll notice it's one my of latest site additions over in the right hand column. Obviously, I am not making these for me (although you know I'm DYING to try just one!).

I'm going to take pictures while I'm making them so you can see how well the attempt goes or just how miserably I fail. Either way, this should be a blast! I swear, I will be a baker yet! Finally, I can shove that in Sister's face! ha ha! Kidding, kidding! Okay, not really.

Hope you're having a nice, relaxing, and rainy Sunday.

Did I happen to mention that I'm nuts?

I thought it would be a good idea if for this year's Lent I gave up desserts. Not chocolate, not pastries, not ice cream....DESSERT. Yes my friend, that encompasses it all. I'm not sure if you know just how taxing this has been on me physically and emotionally considering I live with a man who must have some form of sugar coursing through his veins at any given moment of the day. For instance, this is what we have lying around the house at this very moment:
To say I'm dying is an understatement....

So let me just say, that I am counting down the days until Easter when I can tear into treats like these:

Say a prayer.....

New Dishes, Serious Bargain

Check out our new Denby Jet Stripe dishes! It's been a secret wish of mine to get new dishes, and by that I mean real plates, etc. I have to admit, we were shopping in Bed Bath and Boredom, and came across these on the clearance, 75% off lowest price, odd mix of junk table. I had seen Denby stoneware before and really liked them, (the patterns yes- but also because they are not made in China). The story from the store was that they were no longer going to carry this particular pattern and the remaining stock had dwindled down such that they put out the final pieces a couple of weeks ago. We scored 5 dinner plates ($7 ea.), 7 salad plates ($7 ea.), and 8 bowls ($5 ea.) for a total of about $125. We got the cream/grayish bowls. So you should google and check out the regular prices. Let's just say, we bought over $500 dishes for $125. I LOVE it once every five years when you totally luck up and score on something you've had your eye on. We made add some later but for now, I am counting it as the perfect birthday gift! With no official gift registry ever in sight; it unofficially felt very official. Know what I mean?

Here's a little blurb:

Denby has been making the highest quality dishes for almost 200 years in England, and their market has expanded far beyond Europe. High firing vitrifies the stoneware, making it durable and chip resistant. Glazes will not craze or crack and cannot absorb foods or fluids, each glazed and fired by skilled craftsmen.

With Denby, you can drop the formalities when you get together with friends — just relax and enjoy yourselves. Distinctive designs and great colors help you create just the right atmosphere and it is so practical and durable that it really is hassle-free. Denby stoneware is safe for use in the oven, microwave, freezer, and dishwasher.
