I thought it would be a good idea if for this year's Lent I gave up desserts. Not chocolate, not pastries, not ice cream....DESSERT. Yes my friend, that encompasses it all. I'm not sure if you know just how taxing this has been on me physically and emotionally considering I live with a man who must have some form of sugar coursing through his veins at any given moment of the day. I can't believe you gave up desserts! Fortunately for me (you'll hate me for this) I'm not a big dessert person. I mean sure, a little chocolate here and there, but I mean a little. For my birthday this year some folks at work asked what kind of cake I wanted for my birthday. I answered, "Chips and salsa." Needless to say, I was overruled and someone made a delicious carrot cake which I ate some and mostly gave away. I love salty treats -- so if you give up desserts maybe I should give up my beloved chips and salsa. Would that be a fair trade?
