T w o W e e k s

Two weeks from today we're off to Bermuda.
Holy crap.

In far more interesting news, Lance Bass finally came out. Hey, at least I met him when he was still straight.

Looming

I was looking up a quote I had heard before by Ulysses S. Grant to show his shortsightedness or maybe narrowmindedness or heck just plain stupidity about lots of things- government, finance, personal affairs..

So as I looked for his quote on Venice, I found several other amusing ones. They are below. I am just a few days away from beginning comps and have been deep in the trenches all week. Throw me some thoughts over the next week and a half. I am a bundle of nerves. The dates are: writtens 24th, 28th, 31st and orals 3rd. Until then, enjoy the quotes.

Venice - The only place where you can get seasick by crossing the street. -- Anonymous

Streets flooded. Please advise. - Robert Benchley, telegram from Venice to his editor

The Commonwealth of Venice in their armory have this inscription, Happy is that city which in time of peace thinks of war. - Robert Burton, Anatomy of Melancholy

Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs in one go. - Truman Capote

Venice - A city for beavers. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Venice would be a fine city if it were only drained. - Ulysses S. Grant

Yo yo yo

So I'm just hanging out - watching one of my favorite shows "Hustle" - wondering why you guys are all MIA! I mean, come on...Leigh Ann hasn't posted since early June...Heather since Spain...and Mary Ellen, well, it too has been a while. Now I'll cut you some slack since you are studying so intensely, but when you're done, little lady, you best start blogging away. Heather, don't you have a good limerick to share with everyone? Leigh Ann - don't you have some pictures from your many travels to upload? I can't be held responsible to carry this entire blog. I mean seriously - what the hell do I have to say? Believe me, no one wants to hear about my job anymore. Granted, if I still had a clown boss, then I'm sure I'd have great stories. However, as it stands, I have nothing of the sorts. So, I'm just going to blabber on until I grow tired or it's bedtime - whichever comes first. So here's a fun story...my friend Elaine just moved back to Knoxville. She's got a great apartment in Market Square above a wine bar and a restaurant. On her way out on Sunday morning she noticed tons of people outside standing around what looked like unmarked govt type cars. She quickly realized that the people standing around were from the Tenn. Bureau of Investigation, the FBI, local authorities, and the DEA. All coming to pick up her landlord. Oh yeah...apparently the guy was a big fan of marijuana. The cops found 400lbs of weed in his brother's home. I think that was just the beginning. Apparently the guy has been doing some heavy money laundering as well. Nice landlord huh? If you get bored check out www.knoxnews.com
Anyway, in boring news apparently almost everyone in my office (AE's) are going to the reception in Tuscaloosa. Almost everyone. My teammates of course won't be there...just everybody else. Go figure. I don't even know if you guys can make it or not. If so, most everyone is just staying at the Hampton Inn. If you do want to stay there, you might want to book soon. We ran out of rooms and had to add a few more.

Okay, that should do it for now. I'm going to go back to watch my fabulous british show Hustle now. Anyone watching Project Runway, Reno 911, or Psyche? All are highly recommended.

Nighty night.

What do you guys think of these for some wedding shot ideas?

Oh yeah.

Well, as you guys may be aware the ladies in T-town threw a shower/brunch for me today. I'm pretty sure all the women from Tuscaloosa were in attendance...okay, so there were like 40 there, but still, that's a lot. I'm getting off the point though...Guess who was there???????????

One guess.

Come on...

You can do it...

Give up???

DOLORES.

Thanks for playing.
ha ha ha ha!

ps. Meredith and Betty were there too. :-)

Air Conditioned Shirt

At the beach this weekend, we pondered on how to come up with a patent for an air conditioned or gel ice pack towel or chair. We might should hurry the process with this new invention. For now, I'm not rushing onto the waiting list for this new clothing line.

Air Conditioned Shirt

You have to hand it to human ingenuity. Where there is a problem, there is a solution. This goes for our energy woes (well, sort of), the need for more computing power and sweaty armpits. To wit, we bring you the USB-powered air-conditioned shirt:

Other than USB the shirt is powered by four AA batteries or your car's cigars socket. This ingenious idea is the brain child of Kouzi Ichigaya an ex Sony technician. At present half sleeve shirts for men and women are available with this unique system in Japan.

Never mind the awful-looking little fan in the back that makes you look like a Maytag cyborg, this is very ingenious. The ideal article of clothing for those long trips up the Amazon River .

Happy 4th !!

Happy 4th of July!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday. Heather, be safe in Spain, Leigh Ann, have a blast wherever you may be, and Mary Ellen, if you do end up running the Peachtree, drink lots of water! :-)
Can't wait to see you all very soon!

me and my spain

hi all...i am sitting in a colleagues apartment in Salamanca Spain...my last night here, back to Madrid and then home on Wednesday...this has been a great trip...it started off very slow...almost painfully so, but since I have been here I have gotten to be something I have never been in Spain...a tourist. Anyhow I am posting some pictures that were taken last night when I was out on the town. I was here for a conference and as a guest of the university we have been wined and dined...so after being an adult all day for so long it was nice to let loose. We even made friends with some bartenders - the girl is Isabel...she made me great drinks and never charged me hardly a thing.

Check out these lovely shots.
